Suns Of Creation - This is S.O.C.

Mad props go out to S.O.C. for hooking up Phatleaks with an early copy of their new mix tape "This Is S.O.C." We were honored to leak their new trax to the public, which were absolutely FIRE by the way, before it is available tomorrow for download via www.datpiff.com. Emcees Sean Typhon and Wize Hassan make up the ultimate underground hip hop duo Suns Of Creation (S.O.C.) and these rappers are gritty to the core. Putting their minds, bodies and souls into every rhyme they write, you can tell these dudes literally eat, sleep and breathe hip hop. Hard to pick, but if I had to, "Just Kids" would be my favorite joint off the new mix tape because the guitar in the beat adds a really catchy vibe and the lyrics make me think of a time when I was younger. That is what I love about these dudes, they have the ability to use their pens and make you relate which is truly a beautiful thing. Make sure you find these lyricists and like them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/SunsOfCreation) and follow them on twitter (@SOCHipHop) because they will not disappoint you with their music. Don't forget to download their mix tape when it drops tomorrow via www.datpiff.com and check out their website for the latest S.O.C. news: http://www.sunsofcreation.net

Kimbro - Thank You ft. Speek Eazy

Phatleaks has been hooked up by http://ill-it.com/ with up and coming rapper Kimbro. Kimbro comes out of Roanoke, VA and brings a breath of fresh air to hip hop. His metaphor game is on point and he sincerely gives inspiration to his listeners with songs about his own personal life experiences. Inspiration is really important with music and an artist who can give that is truly gifted. Every writer, musician, artist, producer or even a fan gets uninspired, tired and fed up from time to time and it takes an artist like Kimbro to come along and give them that spark they needed to pick up the pen and go back to the drawing board. As soon as I heard the opening synth intro to "Thank You", I began feeling the vibes that were bumping into my headphones. The drum then hit hard followed by Kimbro’s vocals that command the listener to feel his struggle and hear his thoughts. The overall sound is very unique, very new age and it is tough to even put it in a category like west coast or east coast. Kimbro demonstrates his out of the box thinking with "Thank You" and I really wish contemporary rappers would follow his lead in pushing the envelope by being more creative with their works. We have added some of his new trax to our daily rotation so you can expect to hear a lot from Kimbro in the near future. Do yourself a favor and go download his mixtape for FREE here:

Yaya Gabbana

Phatleaks is proud to present Yaya Gabbana, an iLL female emcee hailing from Boston, MA. She recently hooked us up with some new trax and we have added them to our live stream so be sure to keep an ear out for this hip hop artist in our daily mixes. Yaya rhymes with confidence using that classic hip hop gritty braggadocio demeanor. She's got style, she's got class and most of all she's got rhyming skills that will leave you mesmerized! In her song "My City" she represents her roots and displays herself as an established Boston emcee not to be messed with. She even takes a funny jab at Chris Brown which had me laughing my ass off: "Drop a freestyle and shut the whole city down, can't control your mouth, I black ya eye, CHRIS BROWN!" Yaya packs some serious punch lines so if you emcee, beefing with her may not be the best of ideas. All of the songs I have heard by this girl have been over dope club banging beats that have a hint of dirty south, which makes for a killer combination.  This girl is putting in some serious work so be sure to keep an eye out for her. You can download her mix tape here:  http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/YayaGabbana/mixtape/

Joey Werra - The Forgotten One

If you are looking for one of the hardest working rhyme writers from around the Wey, just google Joey Werra or Sleepless Side Effects. This dude has put in countless hours, days, weeks, months and years into crafting some of the most complex rhyme patterns and composing some of the phattest beats ever.  If you haven't heard him yet, just peep his music video below for his single "The Forgotten One" off of his most recent album "As Of Lately" which is available for FREE here: http://sleeplesssideeffects.com/aol.html#sthash.RqCqNk33.dpbs. Over the past 14+ years, he has made a strong name for himself as a fire emcee as well as a hook machine with melodic flows that will leave his songs stuck in your head for days. Joey's style can go from mellow to rapid speed in about a nano second impressing listeners  with that quick pace syllable delivery. This emcee is one of the most creative artists I have ever met in just about every type of medium (audio, video, digital, drawings, etc) you name it. Joey keeps it real at all costs on wax as well as on stage and you will not be disappointed by any track he puts out or show he performs. You will be hearing a lot from this rapper on the Phatleaks live stream so stay tuned! Check out his website http://sleeplesssideeffects.com/.

TOOL announces new album

ToolBandPicture

If you didn't know, now you do courtesy of PHATLEAKS.com! In an interview with http://www.ultimate-guitar.com, Tool's drummer Danny Carey has publically announced  that they could have their new album finished as early as the end of 2013.  One of my all time favorite bands, I really respect how these guys have kept a mysterious presence even after they blew up.  Carey also said that they are trying to introduce some new sounds on this record but in his opinion no matter how hard they try, it always comes out sounding like Tool. Great news for Tool fans, be on the look out for this early/middle 2014.

Dr. Dre/Trent Reznor Collab?!?!?!

For months there have been tons of rumors that Dr. Dre and Trent Reznor are planning a collaboration.  Trent has stated on twitter that this will not be what the listeners are expecting and for the most part both have been very quiet on the over all collab.  I am a HUGE  Dr. Dre  fan and an even BIGGER Trent Reznor Fan. Both musical production gods together would be EPIC and I really hope that this is not just a rumor or a hoax started by internet wierdos living in their mother's basements with nothing better to do. This is not the first time Trent has entered the hip hop world, for those of you with an ear to the undergound may have heard him work with rapper/producer EL P on a song called Flyentology which was made into an awesome animated music video. Trent's industrial mindset infused with Dre's hip hop production would be BEASTILY. If I find a snippet, you know I'll be leaking that in the mix! Fingers crossed, let's hope this is not a rumor.
